SafetyCulture is now Mitti. On 11 August 2026 SafetyCulture, the company behind iAuditor, rebranded as Mitti. Same product, same team, new name. If you searched for "SafetyCulture" and landed here, this page is for you.
Summary
Mitti is Australia's best-known inspection app, and it deserves that reputation. It is also where the job stops. Mitti has no job lifecycle, no progress claims or variations, no GIS maps and data, and its contractor access is a guest seat for compliance paperwork rather than a working portal. Colobbo is The Connected Field Platform: it runs every inspection type Mitti does — SWMS, toolbox talks, site audits, incident reports, inductions, asset and plant checks — natively, and it runs the job the inspection belongs to. For an Australian field-operations business of 10 to 15+ users, that means one platform and one subscription instead of an inspection app plus a job system plus a sync between them.
What Mitti does well
Credit where it is due. Mitti has 2M+ active users across 80,000 organisations and processes 380,000+ inspections a day. G2 (4.6/5, 483 reviews) and Capterra Australia (4.6/5, 355 reviews) consistently praise how easy it is to build a checklist and how well the mobile app works in the field. The platform covers inspections, issue reporting, asset tracking, sensors, lone worker, contractor prequalification, Actions, Heads Up communications, documents, training and investigations, and the August 2026 release added AI issue creation from photo or voice. There is a Free plan for up to 10 users with 5 active templates, and Premium at US$24 per seat per month on annual billing.
If inspections are the whole of what you need from software, Mitti is a good tool. Most field-operations businesses need the inspection and the job it sits inside.
Where the job runs out of Mitti
Mitti's own comparison pages line it up against Google Forms, Jotform and Donesafe — form and EHS tools, not job or project platforms. That is an honest description of what it is. Four gaps show up quickly for an Australian contractor.
1. No job lifecycle. Mitti's Actions are corrective tasks raised from an inspection; Asset Maintenance (Early Access) adds time- or usage-based maintenance plans. Neither is a job with a scope, a schedule, a crew, a cost and a client. The Mitti–Simpro integration sold by SyncEzy exists precisely because Mitti users need a second system for the job.
2. No progress claims or variations. Claims and variations do not appear anywhere in Mitti's platform, pricing or help content. If revenue depends on claiming against completed work, Mitti cannot help you.
3. No GIS maps and data. Mitti's map view shows where an inspection response was logged, with a GPS accuracy rating. There are no GIS map layers and no GIS data on the job — nothing to run a corridor, network or estate from.
4. Contractor access is a guest seat, not a portal. Mitti's Contractors module lets contractors in guest seats submit insurance certificates and complete inductions and prequalification. It is a compliance feature, still in Early Access. It is not a place where a subcontractor receives work, submits evidence and lodges a claim.
Two smaller points. Pricing is published in US dollars only. And customisation is gated by tier — "limited customisation" and "high pricing for small businesses" are among the most common complaints on G2.
Inspections: like for like
This is the part most comparison pages skip. Colobbo's inspections are not a lighter version of Mitti's; they are the same categories of inspection, built into the job record.
| Inspection type | Mitti | Colobbo |
|---|---|---|
| SWMS, JSA, take-5 and pre-start | Yes | Yes, linked to the job and site |
| Site and safety audits | Yes | Yes |
| Toolbox talks and inductions | Yes | Yes, with the crew and subcontractors on the job |
| Incident and hazard reports | Yes | Yes, raised against the job and location |
| Plant, equipment and asset checks | Yes | Yes, against the asset on the GIS map |
| Quality and completion inspections | Yes | Yes, feeding the progress claim directly |
| Photo evidence, signatures, conditional logic | Yes | Yes |
| Template limits | 5 active templates on Free; more on paid tiers | No template limits, no tiers |
The difference is what happens after sign-off. In Mitti, the inspection is the end of the record. In Colobbo, the inspection sits on the job, against the asset, on the map, and flows into the claim — nothing gets re-typed.
Capability comparison
| Capability | Mitti (formerly SafetyCulture) | Colobbo |
|---|---|---|
| Inspections and forms | Core product; template builder | Native, unlimited, linked to the job |
| Jobs and work orders | Partial: corrective Actions, Asset Maintenance (Early Access); no scheduling, costing or client-facing jobs | Native job lifecycle from scope to sign-off |
| GIS maps and data | No; map shows inspection GPS location for verification only | Native GIS maps and data |
| Progress claims and variations | No | Native, with inspection evidence attached |
| Subcontractor portal | Guest seats for insurance, inductions and prequal (Early Access) | Free working portal: subbies receive work, submit evidence, lodge claims |
| Customisation | Template and access rules; advanced integrations gated to Premium and Enterprise | Per-client engineering customisation, no feature tiers |
| Pricing model | Free (10 users, 5 templates), Premium US$24/seat/mo annual, Enterprise custom; USD only | Simple per-user pricing in AUD, no tiers, no feature restrictions; ask for a quote |
Moving from Mitti to Colobbo
Plenty of Australian contractors adopted SafetyCulture as a forms tool and then stretched it into a job system with Actions and workarounds. If any of these sound familiar, you have hit the wall:
- Someone is re-typing inspection results into a spreadsheet to build a progress claim.
- Subcontractor work is tracked in text messages because guest seats cannot receive work.
- You are paying for Mitti, a second job system, and a third-party sync between them.
- Crews work across a network, corridor or multi-site estate and nobody can see the work on a map.
Moving is straightforward, and template migration is free. We take your Mitti templates and rebuild them as Colobbo inspections attached to the right job types and assets, at no charge — most teams find the set gets shorter, because job context replaces fields that used to be typed in. Your inspection history is exported from Mitti and retained. Your crews run inspections in the same app they run the job from, so there is one login and one place to look. Decon Technologies runs 201 users on Colobbo; OneWire runs 15. Both run their inspections in the same platform as the job.
Keeping Mitti alongside is always an option, never a requirement. If a corporate safety team elsewhere in the business is standardised on it for group-wide programs, Colobbo integrates through Mitti's API and Zapier, and we scope that with you before you sign. For the project teams doing the work, the inspection and the job live in Colobbo.
Who Mitti is best for
- Multi-site operators in hospitality, retail, manufacturing, logistics or healthcare where the whole need is standardised checks across many sites and no job or claim sits behind them.
- Teams that want a free inspection app for up to 10 users and run everything else on paper or elsewhere.
Who Colobbo is best for
- Australian field-operations companies of 10 to 15+ users in infrastructure, electrical, utilities, facilities, construction and trades.
- Teams that run inspections as part of a job — and want the inspection, the job, the GIS maps and data, and the claim in one record.
- Businesses with subcontractors who need a free working portal, not a guest seat.
- Operators who want per-client customisation and simple per-user pricing without feature tiers.
Frequently asked questions
Is SafetyCulture the same as Mitti?
Yes. SafetyCulture rebranded as Mitti (by SafetyCulture) on 11 August 2026. iAuditor, the original app name, is part of the same product line. safetyculture.com now redirects to mitti.com.
Can Colobbo do the same inspections as Mitti?
Yes. SWMS, pre-starts, site and safety audits, toolbox talks, inductions, incident and hazard reports, plant and asset checks, quality and completion inspections — all native, with photos, signatures and conditional logic, and no template limits. The difference is that each one is attached to the job, the asset and the map.
Does Mitti do job management or progress claims?
No. Mitti provides corrective Actions and an Early Access Asset Maintenance module. It has no job lifecycle, scheduling, costing, progress claims or variations. Mitti customers who need those add a separate system.
Do I need to keep Mitti if I move to Colobbo?
No. Colobbo covers the inspections. Keeping Mitti alongside is an option if another part of your organisation is standardised on it — Colobbo integrates through Mitti's API or Zapier — but the project teams doing the work do not need two apps.
Will you migrate our Mitti templates?
Yes, free of charge. We rebuild your existing Mitti templates as Colobbo inspections, attached to the right job types and assets, before you go live. Your inspection history is exported from Mitti and retained.
How is Colobbo priced compared with Mitti?
Mitti publishes USD pricing with a Free plan and a Premium seat price, with customisation and advanced integrations gated to higher tiers. Colobbo uses simple per-user pricing in AUD with no tiers and no feature restrictions. Request a quote for your team size.
