Which WorkBuddy? This page compares Colobbo with WorkBuddy job management software, made by Logic Software Pty Ltd in Parramatta, NSW (workbuddy.com). It is not about Tencent Cloud's WorkBuddy AI product, workbuddy.ai, or any other product sharing the name. If you searched "WorkBuddy pricing" or "WorkBuddy alternative" for an Australian trade or field business, you are in the right place.
Summary
WorkBuddy is job management software for Australian trade and maintenance businesses, with a genuine strength in receiving work orders from head contractors and community-housing providers. Its subcontractor portal, claims module, webhooks and unlimited customisation are only on the Enterprise plan, which starts at 50 users. Colobbo is the Connected Field Platform: jobs, inspections, GIS maps and data, progress claims and variations, and a free subcontractor portal, all included from the first user with no tiers. A 10 to 50 person crew running project-style work gets the whole product now. A maintenance subcontractor living on Ventia or Spotless work orders should give WorkBuddy's integrations a serious look.

Detailed comparison
Features: where the line is drawn
Both products cover the basics: jobs, scheduling and dispatch, an iOS and Android field app, timesheets, quoting and invoicing, and sync with Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks. WorkBuddy also has modules Colobbo does not lead with, including asset maintenance management, run-sheet routing by proximity, credential expiry tracking, an Outlook add-in and Power BI reporting (Enterprise). For a long tail of small maintenance jobs, those are useful.
The difference is what happens when the work gets complex.
Inspections. WorkBuddy has a solid forms builder that turns induction checklists, inspection reports, SWMS and hazard reports into digital forms, prefilled from job data. It is available from Professional, not Core. Colobbo's inspections are native to every job for every customer.
GIS maps and data. WorkBuddy's field app navigates to a job address and its scheduler groups jobs by service zone. That is address-based dispatch, not GIS. There are no GIS map layers and no GIS maps and data anywhere in the product. Colobbo lets you task crews directly on a map against network assets, which is why utilities and infrastructure contractors choose it.
Progress claims and variations. WorkBuddy supports milestone and stage invoicing and PO tracking, and lists a "Claims module" as an Enterprise inclusion. Variations and retentions are not described on its site. Colobbo runs progress claims and variations natively, tied to the inspection and job evidence behind them, so claims go out with the proof attached.
Subcontractor portal. WorkBuddy's contractor portal, where subbies receive work orders and run sheets, upload photo and video evidence and get RCTIs, is Enterprise-only. Whether subcontractor seats cost extra is not stated. Colobbo's subcontractor portal is free for every customer, because most of our clients run subbies from day one, not from user 50.
Customisation, API and webhooks. WorkBuddy caps Professional at 100 custom fields, 3 dashboards and 10 custom reports, and reserves webhooks and B2B integrations for Enterprise. Its team does build bespoke solutions on request, and reviewers speak well of that. Colobbo customises per client as standard, and clients get direct feature-request access to our engineers.
Bottom line: WorkBuddy is well built for a maintenance subcontractor, but the four capabilities project-based crews rely on most are either missing or gated. Colobbo ships them all, to everyone.

WorkBuddy's $250 per month headline is good value for a five-person crew that fits within Core. The catch is the ceiling. Core stops at 20 users. Professional adds forms and compliance but not the portal or claims. A 25-person business that needs a subcontractor portal has to buy 50 Enterprise seats, at a price WorkBuddy does not publish, plus an unpublished setup fee.
Colobbo has one price per user, no tiers, no setup fees and no feature gates. A 12-person crew and a 120-person crew get the same product. Ask for a quote and you will have a number the same day.
Support and service
Both companies are Australian and both implement in-house. WorkBuddy's Capterra reviewers praise a responsive admin team that will change things on request, and Enterprise customers get a dedicated customer success manager. Colobbo gives every customer that hands-on approach regardless of size, with engineers working directly with clients on customisation. We will not claim a support advantage here; both are small teams that pick up the phone.
Integrations
WorkBuddy's B2B work-order integrations are its most distinctive asset. It imports work orders in PDF, CSV, JSON and XML from head maintenance contractors such as Ventia, Spotless, Facilities First and Lake Maintenance, from Sydney Water, and from NSW community-housing providers including St George Community Housing, Evolve, Link Wentworth, Bridge Housing, Hume and Mission Australia Housing. If those principals send you work, this is a real time-saver. Note that B2B integrations and webhooks sit on the Enterprise tier.
Colobbo integrates with the accounting and back-office tools our clients run and builds client-specific integrations as part of per-client engineering. We do not have a pre-built catalogue of NSW housing-provider feeds, and we say so plainly.
Who WorkBuddy is best for
- NSW maintenance subcontractors receiving work orders from Ventia, Spotless, Sydney Water or community-housing providers
- Residential, strata and property-maintenance trades with high volumes of small, repeatable jobs
- Businesses of 5 to 20 users that fit within Core and do not need a subcontractor portal or claims
- Companies that already run 50+ users and can justify Enterprise from the outset
Who Colobbo is best for
- Field-operations companies of 10 to 50 users that need a subcontractor portal, progress claims and inspections now, not at 50 seats
- Utilities, infrastructure, electrical and civil contractors who work from GIS maps and data
- Project-based crews managing claims, variations and evidence across multi-stage jobs, where disputes cost real money
- Businesses that want the product adapted to how they work, with direct access to the engineers who build it
Colobbo runs field operations for Decon Technologies (201 users) and OneWire (15 users), among others, across exactly this range.
Moving from WorkBuddy to Colobbo
Migration is straightforward but not magic. Here is what to expect.
- What transfers: clients, sites, contacts, jobs and asset lists come across from a WorkBuddy CSV or Excel export. Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks are reconnected on the Colobbo side.
- What is rebuilt: inspection forms and document templates are recreated in Colobbo with our team during onboarding. Custom fields and reports are mapped, not copied.
- What is new: GIS maps and data, claims and variations, and the subcontractor portal have no WorkBuddy equivalent for most customers, so these are set up fresh around your workflows.
- Head-contractor work orders: if you rely on WorkBuddy's B2B feeds, tell us which principals send you work. We scope the integration before you commit, not after.
Onboarding is included. No setup fee, no annual lock-in to get started.
